Condition report:

A Canon F-1 in super good condition. We don’t often give 5 stars on the cosmetic rating but this one definately deserves it. There is only some very faint marks on the bottom plate, but the rest of the camera looks like new. When we got the camera it was jammed because of a faulty selftimer. We were able to unjam all the mechanics. When testing the camera on our Kyoritsu it scores very good on all speeds. However, a recent film test shows that there is sometimes a variation in the runtime of the curtains. This has to do with the ball bearings in a quite complicated shutter machanism. This slight variation in curtain travel speed sometimes introduces a darker part in the frame, around 1/3rd from the left side of the photographs. its only visible with some speeds, mainly the faster speeds. The camera is semi-usuable but idealy would need a overhaul by a Canon F-1 expert.  The light meter gives a 2 stop over exposure reading when using 1.5v batteries, so make sure you use the 675 Varta ones for correct voltage of 1.35V. New light seals and mirror damper have been installed. Counter works as intended. Good glass in lens. focus is smooth. A beautiful kit that is collectors grade. Can be used with the above mentioned remark. Or used and the exposure varience corrected in post. Issue reflected in price.

Main specs of the Canon F-1 / F-1n:

The Canon F-1 is a fully mechanical camera, meaning it fires without batteries. The batteries are only needed for the light meter operation. It only offers manual exposure mode but will show your selected speed inside the finder. The shutter speeds range from 1/2000th to 1s. The camera is built up to the highest quality specs, all metal body and really feels of premium quality in the hand. Film advance, rewind and focus are manual. The F-1 alsofeatures a mechanical selftimer on the front of the body. The Canon F-1 uses 1.3v PX625 batteries, if you want to use PX625u ones the camera has to be converted to 1.5v circuit or compensate roughly a stop in the ISO setting. The Canon F-1 offers a load of various customization options and accessories. The Canon F-1 ecosystem contains a wide selection of interchangable focusing screens, viewfinders, filmbacks, drives, flashguns and of course the whole Canon FD lineup. The F-1 therefore can be adapted or optimized for a specific style or genre of photography. In 1976 Canon released a revised version of the F-1 and called it the Canon F-1n. Not to be confused with the third generation New F-1 which was released in 1981 (this naming still messes up us here every now and then as well). The improvements include a new focusing screen (can be swapped anyways) and mainly cosmetic / ergomonic changes to the body. Canon F-1 / F-1n variants:

The standard Canon F-1 comes in a full black finish only. The F-1 has multiple limited editions in existence including a green olive drab model and many Olympic Games versions. These camera's did not receive any upgrades other than cosmetics. However a very rare Canon F-1 high speed was released in 1972 with a special mirror system which could shoot up to 9 FPS, only a few hundreds have been made and it's very sought after by Canon FD collectors.
